The Cubs then forced a pivotal seventh game by notching an 8-7, 12-inning triumph in Game 6. Hank Borowy, who had pitched 5 innings as the starter in Game 5 and 4 innings of relief in Game 6, was the Cubs' starter in Game 7. 3 batters into the game (3 singles and a run) he was lifted. The Tigers scored 5 first-inning runs and were never threatened, rolling to a 9-3 victory and the World Championship.
